I can tell you countless times I’ve been standing in front of the mirror at dumb o’clock still twisting up my hair, at these times (almost like in the cartoons) the shoulder angel and devil regarding hair both appear.
The “hair” angel is saying “Continue plaiting your hair, continue moisturising, continue sealing, continue detangling. It will all be worth it”
The “hair” devil laughs and says “Your tired, your arms hurt, you got a long day tomorrow. One night not detangling / moisturising and sealing won’t hurt”
However in the morning, for those who decide to the follow the “hair” devil will be greeted with one fat knot in their head the next morning.
Due to me, allow the “hair” devil to always influence me I have devised a few techniques (for myself) to share with y’all.
– Moisturising and sealing:
I use glycerine and water, however this only works for the summer months.
My hair stays moisturised all day, I just keep my glycerine and water in a pump, when ready pump out required amount and slap it on my hair. Done!
– Styling:
For styling, I am very lazy so I wear headscarf’s which I wear daily and underneath I have twists which I deep condition weekly (protein and moisture)
So that’s low manipulation and protective styling all in one.
– Washing:
I wash my hair in twists, this might not be such a good idea. However this is only regarding cowashing.
I feel it important to let that scalp and hair breathe.
– Drying hair:
For this, 99.99999% of the time use air drying.
However when I am using flexi rods and I need to be out of the house soon and my hair is still wet I will use the hair dryer on cool.
– Deep conditioning :
Can be easily done with my twists on and whilst I’m sleeping.
(Basically twists are the way forward)
That’s all my lazy girl methods which I use to look after my hair, as I want to use little manipulation and protective styles to retain maximum length.
Happy Growing!
