Tell us a little bit about your background.
My name is Kenvi, I am a part time bank teller & student. I am currently preparing to apply to graduate school for Physical Therapy, I have hopes of completing Physical Therapy school & owning my own physical therapy clinic.
What are your reasons for going natural?
I actually became natural by accident. As a college undergrad, I didn’t have time to keep up with my hair so I stopped getting relaxers.
How did you transition (or did you BC)?
I transitioned, I was not brave enough for a big chop. I fell in love with my natural hair pattern. After a year without chemicals, I cut my relaxed ends off & became fully natural.
What emotional struggles, if any, have you faced since going natural?
I didn’t experience any emotional struggles, going natural was a personal choice. I didn’t care much about what others thought.
Others respond well to my hair. I’ve gotten nothing but love & encouragement since being natural, I greatly appreciate that.
What’s your go-to style?
When my hair was longer lengths, my go to styles were twist outs & wash & go’s. I’m falling in love with my 3B/3C hair texture & I’m also loving the wash & go style more.
What’s your favorite product and why?
My favorite products are coconut oil, water, African Pride’s Leave in Conditioner, Creme of Nature’s Perfect 7 & any product by Shea Moisture.
What piece of advice would you share with someone who is just starting out?
Love yourself and your hair. Everyone has a different hair texture, embrace your texture and rock it!
Who is your hair crush?
My hair crush is of course, Tracee Ellis Ross. I just love her!
