What are your reasons for going natural?
I just got tired of wearing weave and trying to “fit-in.” So I finally in 2009, I worked up courage to cut it all off, I haven’t looked back since.
How did you transition (or did you BC)?
I went to my local barber shop and she just cut all my hair off.
What emotional struggles, if any, have you faced since going natural?
Initially, I struggled with my fade, because I thought I would look like a boy. With time, it grew on me, and I think I look good with it.
How do others react to your hair?
I get compliments all the time, people literally stop me and tell me I’m rocking that fade or they’ll say I have the perfect head for it. Some people can be cruel and say I look like a man but they’re comments don’t phase me. I’m secure with myself, I know who I am.
What’s your go-to style?
I usually just add a design or a straight part, that’s my go-to design.
What’s your favorite product and why?
My favorite product is Miss Jessie’s Baby Butter Creme. My scalp is very dry and sensitive it’s the only product that moisturizes my scalp and doesn’t irritate it either.
What piece of advice would you share with someone who is just starting out?
Confidence is the key. Who cares what people think about you “going natural”. Own the process and rock it!
Who is your hair crush?
My hair crush is Sai.Sankoh I absolutely love her green fade gives me life!
