GOAL #1
Health
Although I feel like this is a no brainer, with all of the new protective style trends going on taking care of your hair should be your number one priority. I have been guilty of not taking care of my hair and wonder why my hair isn’t thriving like it should. Your hair will not grow if it is not properly taken care of. This means not wearing your protective styles for too long and also remembering that the style is supposed to protect your hair not add and or cause damage.
GOAL #2
Experiment
I feel like a lot of naturals are scared to venture out and try something different with their hair other than the typical twist out, braid out, puff, etc. There are so many natural hair inspirations that being stuck inside of a box should no longer be an option. While taking care of your hair is important it is also important to remember that it’s just hair. If you see a funky hair cut or color that you want to try, try it. Don’t let anyone stop you. Let 2015 be a year of change for you. Change can be a good thing.
GOAL #3
Stop Comparing/Wishing
There is nothing wrong with admiring someone’s hair. We’ve all lusted over another persons hair before but it becomes a bit much when you begin to wish that you hair their hair and stop loving your own. Just like you they are on their journey and you don’t know what it took for them to get there so be patient and love your journey and enjoy every stage that you’re in. There is no one else hair that is like yours so feel special. I can admit I use to be so mad that I couldn’t get a bomb twist out but I experimented and found out what worked for me. The moment that i began to love my hair and love the styles that I could achieve with my hair was the moment that I no longer looked at pictures and wanted hair like the next persons. I just wanted my hair to be the best that it could possibly be.
